FÁS Programmes

Community Employment and Jobs Initiative are employment and training programmes which helps long-term unemployed people to re-enter the active workforce by assisting them in developing both their technical and personal skills. St Andrew's Resource Centre currently sponsors four Community Employment projects with a total of 85 participants and have 27 paricipants on Jobs Initiative programmes.

Training

To assist in the provision of services and to facilitate the personal development of CE and JI participants, the Fas supervisors of St Andrew's Resource Centre help in sourcing training for all of our participants.

Alongside job specific training we have organised training in such diverse topics as ECDL, Equal Skills and Childcare. We have also had participants engage with manual handling, HACCP, catering, Safepass, medical records clerk, bus driving, security work, receptionist training and CV and interview skills training.

Participants have also engaged in educational courses ranging from basic literacy assistance as far as degree level. We also help with personal development training and participants have attended classes in flower arranging, painting, photography and other therapeutic endeavours.

Our ultimate aim is to ensure that all our participants conclude their time on Community Employment having enhanced both their professional job skills and personal development and that they continue on their career paths with enhanced confidence and competence.

Those interested in a CE of JI placement must meet all requirements as outlined by Fás (click here for more information and eligibility criteria and further detailed information).
