About the Heritage Project
Following the publication of “Saint Andrew’s Boys National School 125 Years Ago” published in the summer of 2022, work has continued to list as many Students as possible and link them to the 1901 and / or 1911 Census.
To date, we have over 3,500 Students listed from the Roll-Books covering the period 1897 to 1920. We are preparing the list and backgrounds to be presented as a Digital Archive on the St. Andrew’s Website.
In this update we have decided to focus on the Students backgrounds to try and give a flavour of conditions within the School catchment area around the turn of the last Century.
A loose picture of the catchment area would be: Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, as the northern boundary, Power’s Court, Mount Street on the south side, The McMahon Bridge/The Iron Bridge on east and Poolbeg Street/Tara Street on the west.
