Launch of St. Andrew's National School Roll Book Project

23 May 2016

St. Andrew's Resource Centre was delighted to host the launch of the St. Andrew's National School Roll Book project yesterday evening.

This project saw a collaboration between the Centre, and the departments of History and Computer Science of Trinity College Dublin. The project saw students from the Trinity College Masters in Public History gather, record, and digitise the National School's roll books from 1910-1916. The out-come of this project is the creation of an interactive, web-based, database and website that can be used to access the names, addresses and other details of the boys who attend the school during this period. The project was facilitated by a steering-group based in St. Andrew's Resource Centre, who aided the students in gathering the information and contextualising the records.

This fine website is still in beta-mode, but can be accessed here. It is hoped that this will be an on-going collaboration between St. Andrews and Trinity College, with the aim of digitising the roll books right the way back to 1885 and through to the close of the school in 1976.
